Most every Monday there is a small group of us ADT-Ler's in the Boston area that meet for a nice hike in the woods with our Airedales. We generally have six Dales with us and hike for about 3.5 - 4 miles at a place called Middlesex Fells Reservation. This is where our Airedales find supreme joy.
We usually have Dinah and Hazel that own Nan Hamilton, Otis and Milo that own Shirley Sanborn, and Bonnie and Cameron that own Lesley Mattuchio (me)!
We have had many fun and exhilarating experiences on this little sojourns.
One time I took Karl too and he fell through the ice in one of the several ponds and I had to rescue him ( he stays home now), another time Nan, our fearless leader, was other wise busy at Westminster and Shirley and I got lost with our four dogs.
We ended up being in the woods for 3 hours and hike 6 miles that day and got back to the parking lot just as it got dark! Our Airedales wallow in mud,run free and wild swim to wash off, hunt small game, and come across other dogs and say "hi".
Sometimes the other dogs want to join us instead of their humans! We often hear shouts ahead, as our Dales precede us ( except Bonnie) " WOW...a WHOLE HERD!"
We cross brooks with little bridges and sometimes ones with no bridges...that's when I have to drag "I don't want to get my feet wet" Bonnie across by the collar.
From time to time there will be new pictures here that I have taken on our Monday
hikes. We would like to invite anyone in our area to join us on Mondays and
don't be afraid to travel a little way to get to us...Shirley drives from New
Hampshire just to share in this special time we have with each other, nature,
and most important...our Dales!
